Review the following guideline for adopting a horse from WHR&S:

Ginger is pretty laid back but she picks her people. She will definitely test you but once she bonds with you, she will be in your pocket. Ginger doesn't stand for the farrier but she tries. (insert toddler tantrum attitude) Ginger is easy to catch but really she just wants you to tell her she's pretty and give her treats. Sadly, Ginger has not had the best 2025. She was diagnosed with Cushings. She is on a daily medication to help but it does cost around $70/month. She is also on more of a special diet to help control her cushings symptoms. Ginger is up for adoption but only as a companion horse. She is not suitable for any type of riding.

Shiloh was adopted but returned to us in October 2025 at no fault to her own. (adopter had health issues) Shiloh has trust issues and can be hard to catch however we are working with her daily. She is not considered "adoptable" at this time due to her trust issues. We believe that in order to set up a horse for success, we want to make sure they are not only physically ready to move into their forever homes but they are also mentally ready. However, if someone with established history of working with a hard to catch/trust issues horse comes her way, we would consider it! Shiloh has been ridden in the past but we have not tried to do any type of riding since she has been back. We are only working on her trust issues and ground work. Shiloh presented some potential dental issues when she came back so we did have dental work done. She will need another dental in 6 months.

He has no health issues other than being on senior feed. Remy was rescued from Geneva Co by the Geneva Co Sheriff Dept. several years ago. He was adopted out and later returned at no fault of his own. Remy is a big teddy bear, loved by everyone. He LOVES attention, treats and is simply the bestest old man. He stands for the farrier, first to greet you at the gate and is a true gentleman when leading him around. He prefers all of your attention 24/7. Low man in the herd, gets along with anyone. He just wants to eat and chill.

We were contacted in November of 2024 by a local animal lover, asking if we could take in a mini that was abandoned. We picked her up and she was so tiny that we could actually carry her. She immediately went to the local vet hospital for evaluation where she stayed for a week. During this time, she had some dental work done and a few hoof trims. She has several deformities in her feet. Once we brought her to the rescue, we had several follow up appointments in Auburn, AL at the Auburn University Large Teaching Hospital. She was able to get more farrier work done and had toe extensions added. She still has to get that done every 4 weeks but luckily we have a local farrier that has been able to take on her case since he has experience with her condition. During one of her trips to Auburn, she also had some serious dental work done. Sadly, she had a few broken teeth and we had to have those removed. Tink is tiny but she has a HUGE personality. She is still not cleared by our vet to be adopted due to her ongoing feet and dental issues. She is also on a very special diet so she doesn't gain anymore weight. She is on a dry lot with her bestie, Gypsy.
