I have always had a love of animals and started helping animals at a young age. My love for horses grew over time and I always wanted my own. In 2009, I came across a horse named Dolly that had been mistreated and abused. It was then that I realized that the Wiregrass area did not have a place for abused and neglected horses. In 2013 I, along with amazing supporters, opened Wiregrass Horse Rescue & Sanctuary.
I have been volunteering with Wiregrass Horse Rescue & Sanctuary for 5 years now. I wanted to volunteer because I saw this rescue on WTVY news one day, they needed hay for a new group of horses they had to rescue, so my family and I decided to donate hay and we've been volunteering ever since. I have a husband, 5 children, 4 horses, 3 dogs and 5 cats. Our 2 youngest boys have grown up around the horse rescue, and it has been such a joy to be able to volunteer together as a family.
Every since I was 7 years old and got ahold of the Phantom Stallion series by Terry Farley I've dreamed of having a closer relationship with horses that includes more than just sitting in a saddle.
When I was a child, my family had show horses. Being too young to show a horse, my experience with them was limited. As an adult, I sought out a connection with them. Bonding with a horse makes all of my pain fade away. The horses at the Wiregrass Horse Rescue and Sanctuary need me and I need them. Having a film background, I have decided to pursue a career as a horse videographer.
I have loved horses my entire life. Since I did not come from an equestrian family, I learned early how to make as many connections as I could in the horse community. So, when I gave up training and teaching lessons to move to Dothan for medical school I knew I would need to find some kind of involvement with horses. I was so excited to discover that there was a horse rescue with a lovely group of volunteers here. Even with my very limited time I have loved caring for the horses at the rescue when I get the chance. Horses have given me some of my happiest memories and it's been great to have the chance to give back to them.
I am an educator and mom who loves reading, yoga, camping, and the great outdoors. I have had a fascination and love of horses since I was a little girl, so working at the rescue has given me the opportunity to help, care, and learn more about these beautiful creatures.
I grew up with horses and have loved them for as long as I can remember. When I moved to the Wiregrass area, I was thrilled to discover an outlet that allows me to connect with and care for horses in need. When I am not volunteering, I love to spend time with my husband, dog, and two cats.
My wife and I moved here back in November 2024 and so far we really like it, I love Motorcycles, the beach, and music, I’ve had a love for horses every since I was young and hate to see any animal being abused, Working at the rescue and being allowed to help these horses is a dream come true
I am a former dolphin trainer and vet tech. I spent 8 years caring for all types of marine animals as well as rescue/rehab of sea turtles and dolphins! In high school, I spent a few years doing horseback riding lessons. I started volunteering at WHRS and it has filled my animal heart with so much love. My true passion is not only caring for animals, but also being their voice and educating others how important they are!
